Calpine 2008

Haven’t been to the Calpine Party for a couple of years now but what I remembered was it was some of the best riding in California and one killer party. This year was no exception. The party is hosted by the Crew M/C and benefits local charities.

We (Felix & Peggy, Eric & Sharon, Randy & Annie and Bob & Blanca) started out on Friday and headed to the “Casa de Jordan” in Garden Valley about two and a half hours from the Bay Area. Bob & Blanca have a ranch there with a private lake, goat and a lama named Dolly (get it… Dolly Lama).

On Saturday we rode the last leg of the trip about two hours to Calpine and party central. With towering redwoods, winding roads, rivers and the Sierra Mountains as a backdrop motorcycling doesn’t get any better than this. We were able to snag a couple rooms at the Sierra Lodge so after settling in it was time to “party till your dog don’t know ya”.  So we headed over to the bar/patio grabbed a drink touched base with old and new friends while Bob and the band cracked out rockin-kick-ass music well into the evening. (killer party / band / food / friends……… Dude it rocked.

We didn’t want to miss any opportunity to ride in the Sierra’s so on Sunday we picked a route that would wind our way back to the Bay Area. So we heading down HWY 49 to Sierra City, Downieville, Nevada City, Grass Valley and Alburn before get back on 80. From HWY 80 we took HWY 5 to HWY 160 and rode along the Delta for our final leg home.
