Meet Felix Baltazar

Q. What do you do for a living / fun?

A. I own an auto glass shop in Oakland called Glass On The Move www.autoglassonthemove.com

I am also the Editor for the Roadhouse Monkeys.

Q. When did you get your first bike?

A. Oh yes you mean that moment in time that changed my life forever? It was a graduation present my parents gave me after high school. It was a Honda 305 Scrambler. It only took 6 months to trash the bike, break my foot and leave a good portion of skin on the road. A friend gave me this old frame he had, a Sportser gas tank and a 6-inch over front end. I had it custom painted added a sissy bar and a side mounted license plate.

Q. What type of bike do you ride now?

A. A 1995 HD Softail named Jezebel (the other woman) and a 1998 Roadking named Betty. Jezebel is a bar hopper and Betty is the long distance bike (the one Peggy and I ride when you absolutely need to bring everything you own and ride all day)

Q. What is your favorite road/ride?

A. Any road anytime anywhere but my favorite rides are the ones that we take to someplace I’ve never been with no plans at all. One ride I do like to take is riding up 101 to the Russian River then follow the river all the way down to Highway 1 to Bodega Bay, Petaluma then back to the Bay Area.

Q. Why is riding important to you?

A. I have given the question a lot of thought over the years- the fact is when I’m on a bike I see the world in a completely different way. All my senses are in tune and I’m focused. That means I’m not thinking about anything else, it’s a way of clearing my head of all the responsibilities of life and stopping to smell the roses.

Q. How did you hear about the Roadhouse Monkeys?

A. The Roadhouse Monkeys was an idea that myself and a lot of friends had that wanted to have a fellowship of riders but did not want all the pettiness associated with an official club. So we started this web site as a means of exchanging information, As an Un-Club we keep evolving.

Q. Any Other Comments?

A. The thing I love about the Roadhouse Monkeys is the diversity of friends and activities. One ride my involve a weekend ride up the coast while others may be a group of people partying their ass’s off some place miles away from home. I truly have enjoyed everything about being part of this brother/sisterhood and can’t wait for the next event.
