Wild 1 Chubby Handle Bars
Product review of model 518 chubby bars also known as the RK2 bar. I selected these bars because I was looking for a comfortable seating position to help with back pain on long rides. The 518 bars brought the controls back which put me in a more upright position. I have enjoyed the bars for 6 years now and have no complaints at all. Good quality, good price.
Before I purchased the bars I checked around and compared Chubby’s to some other brands and finally decided to go with them. I liked John’s attitude and he knew his product. It was with his advice that I chose the 518 over the 508. I explained what I wanted and he showed me what he had and how it would be on the bike. I tried to ask questions from the others and they pretty much couldn’t tell me much of anything specific about their bars on my bike, except that I would love them and everyone is using them.

If you decide to go with new bars or just feel like a change of style then I highly recommend Wild 1 Cubby’s. John will listen and then suggest some different style bars and not just tell you what you want.

As for installation issues I had none.
1.  Read then reread and follow the directions and you will have them done in no time.
2.  Have your new chubby bars and all parts and accessories ready and laid out in an organized manner. This includes tools, new cables and clamps, Loctite, etc. This is a good time to upgrade your hand controls and switch covers to chrome or a custom style if you so desire.
3.  Make sure you have an old blanket folded several times to cover your tank, front fender and headlamp assy. This is to prevent any damage if you accidently drop the bars.

When you finish your installation don’t get in a hurry to test drive the bike this is where you want to make sure you check and recheck your work. Double check your fasteners, clamps, cable adjustments and clearance, all mounting bolts and all electrical items and lights to see if they are working properly. Bleed the brakes if needed, check and recheck faring clearance and interference with anything. This is very important. Turn handle bars full lock both ways to make sure of the clearance.

Assembly time will very depending on your model of bike and style of bars you choose.

If you want to save a couple dollars you can also ask John if they have any blemished bars in the style you want. I had a pair that I could not find the blemish.    Don’t forget to check out their new style bars and clamps.
